They are activated once a pin is set through the App.

Now that you’ve signed into your account, it’s time to unwrap your Special Card!
Tap anywhere on your screen to start unwrapping.
To activate your card, you’ll next need to select "Set PIN and activate card".
Remember, you’ll need to use this 4 digit PIN when the time comes to spend your Special Card so this should be something that you remember and shouldn’t be shared with anyone else.
Confirm your 4 digit PIN to complete.
You can now "Manage" the card or "Add to Wallet"
To view the Active Gift Card details, select the Wallet icon from within the Special Cards App and select the card you'd like to "Manage" from the screen. You can also view your "Past" Special Cards from this screen.
From here you're able to add the Special Card in your phone’s digital wallet.
Please go to Apple App Store or Google Play Store, search for Special Gift Cards and download the app.
